Welcome to Charter Oak Primary School

Greetings from Charter Oak Primary School. As principal, I am very proud of our achievements at Charter Oak… in our classrooms and in our community. Our school achieves because our dedicated teachers and support staff strive to provide a solid foundation for life-long educational and social success to our diverse population of learners. In addition to our educational goals, it is also very important that our Charter Oak community feels at home. To accomplish that, Parent Newsletters as well as individual classroom newsletters are sent home providing you with information about upcoming events and activities. Young Authors

It is that time of the year again for students to begin working on their Young Author manuscripts. They will be due on Friday, January 9th. All students in grades Kindergarten through 4th are encouraged to participate. Listed below are the guidelines:
Students may receive adult help in the following areas:
•Proofreading
•Typing
•Binding
The following should originate with the Young Author:
* Idea and composition of the story, poem or play.
* Idea and execution of the illustrations.
* Manuscripts should be in book form with a cover and pages securely attached.
*Books authored and/or illustrated by more than two children will not be accepted.
*Dictation books may be typed or handwritten by adults, but must be in the student’s own language.
*Length is to be determined by the author.
*Computer generated illustrations are acceptable.
*Students may include an “About the Author” page at the end of the book.
*All books must contain a MANUSRIPT INDENTIFICATION CARD (available from teacher) GLUED ON THE INSIDE COVER OF THE BOOK.
